-guide rod mounts
-shocks

The steering components, brakes, discs, and springs will wait for another day...

You think you're going to get that done in one day?

I put more Bilstein shocks on than any others in the shop.

But for my stuff, I use externally adjustable Koni shocks.

Way behind in the race with Alan and Hatty to 250K! (224k right now)

Did you swap from a stock/OE shock that came on the car since it was new or from some other aftermarket?

Well, I got almost all of it done today.. in addition to replacing the neutral safety switch, and adjusting the rack damper. Didn't get the rear subframe mounts in the shipment, and didn't get the shocks done. (I'm keeping the heavy-duties)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe speed through the corners has much to do with shocks at all, but rather the springs. Yes, if you are taking corners fast on a very choppy and potholed surface then stiffer shocks would keep better tire contact with the road. But, as far as reducing body sway were talking about springs, not shocks.

And anti-sway bars and links could come into play as well.

I put bilsteins all around on the 115 after the front end rebuild. They're the best. Pricey, but save the receipt. You get a lifetime warranty.

I have Koni Sports on my Porsche 944 Turbo (awesome) and just put Bilstein HD's on my 87 300D. I think they give the car a nice ride. I have always used Bilsteins on my MB's.

My car came with KYB's on the front and Bitsteins on the back. I will eventually get 4 new Bilsteins. I thought the Bilsteins were gas shocks also.

Bilstein Comforts all around on my old 300D. Current 300D came with HD's in the front and I put Comforts in the back (the comforts were taken from my totaled 300D).

Bilsteins are really the only way to go. They last and last and last, and the ride is correct.

How about this jar of pickles...

Has/could someone put HD on one end and Comfort on the other?
I was thinking comfort fronts and HD rears but that would probably make the rear come loose on corners if there was bumps.
I am looking into getting all new shocks for the SD as the KYB's on there are getting aged and I think the rear ones are the source of my "clunk clunk" when on a slightly bumpy surface.

ANy ideas?

My experience is the HD's loosen up considerably after 10K. They start out quite firm but break in nicely. RT
