Here are some partial pics... if I ever get the car back I'll take better ones I won't claim this as a perfect engine bay, but it will get you started.

Edit: VVVV Whoa, I'm so ashamed! VVVV

Thanks Benzene!
Shell, Very impressive but of little use for me as I am looking for '85...I'm going to the museum of fine arts in Boston in a few weeks to see the auto show....I expect to see some engines detailed to that extent....

Well, I made mention of holding one at my place this spring. That thread died immediately.

Bodyart, that engine of yours looks like it came off the assembly line! I see a bunch of bottles and cleaner chemicals next to the 1st oil pan photo. May I inquire what you used to detail the engine? I have 31 years of grime to clean off of my car

Here is the basic concept...

http://www.se-r.net/car_info/clean/detail_engine.html

I wrote that article for the nissan guys - so it has the basics - just watch your electronics. Also be careful as to what you use on aluminum - some of the stuff (castrol super clean for example) will oxidize aluminum...

I think when you mentioned it, "spring" seemed a long way off. However, a N. Texas GTG sounds like a great idea.

Now if I could get the ailing injectors on Blue Belle taken care of.

Btw, Bodyart do you actually drive that car? (I noticed the jackstands) Mine was a daily driver for the past two years so it looks nowhere near that. Looking fine.

daily driver

I drive it to work every day during the week. Went I got the car from my mom it had like 182K miles. That was about 18 months ago. The first 6 months I had it I did very little driving as I was going through a lot of the components (fluids / filters / tires, etc) bringing it up to par to be a daily driver. Now it has 197K miles and next oil change she will break 200K - wow, what a car. I've done a handfull of road trips with her - very comfortable cruiser. The only work I have not done myself is going through the A/C system. The last 6 months have been very trouble free except that I replaced the steering box because a leak was really getting bad. Right now I'm reasearching front brakes and wheel bearings (what tools I need and starting the parts list).

I'm fortunate with the car - my family lives in Texas and mom had the car regularly serviced by a very good independent so it is still very sound. Cosmetically the paint is still OK with no rust. The interior needs to be replaced - that texas sun long ago took it's toll on the leather - the only real drawback visually on the car. If I replaced the interior, repainted the bumpers and powder coated the rims - the car would look amazing. I think it will be worth it as the mechanicals could easily go another 100K (and I plan to keep driving it and rack up the miles!)

Keeping it clean under the hood right now is just clean thouroughly as I go on the maintenance.
