Here is a good window tint law 'quick reference'

http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html

In terms of windshields, they either list a number of inches down from the top, or 'AS1' which seems to be a standard height. I've got a tinted strip built into my windhshield, and there is a tiny mark printed on the glass labeled "AS1" at the bottom of the tint, presumably as something to point to if a cop got after you.

Here in MO we can have 35% tint on the front sides, 'AS1' height tint on the windshield, and any % on all other windows. Pretty generous, I'd say.

peace,
sam

In California, ANY window tint on the front windshield (except for a strip at the top) or front side windows is illegal. However, Huper Optik and V-Kool have a film which unlike traditional window tint does not look dark, yet is ceramic based and has outstanding heat and UV rejecting properties.

It's technically illegal in CA to have it on your front windows, but no one (police, heh-heh) will know it's there.
