I removed the low pressure line, and poked it through to the ground. I had already put my oil change drain pan under there, so no leakage. By the time I got back up topside, the fluid had gravity drained so that the filter was exposed. I removed it by the usual method. I ran two quarts of Mobil 1 ATF through, under power. You really have to pour fast! After that, I dropped the new filter in, and bolted it down. Filled it up again, and had Angel swing stop to stop while I watched to see if the level held up. All was well, so I buttoned it up, then we made a couple of trips around the block, swerving stop to stop as much as we could. The neighbors already think I'm looney. Got home, checked the level and it stayed up, so I'm pretty happy. Like I said, total time: 20 minutes. I'll be watching for leaks, having switched from dino to syn. |
yep, once that return line is removed it sucks the fluid right out quickly i was shock-ed. the wife didn't even have a chance to turn the wheel.
my car had the murky brown stuff in there also and when i took out the filter there was the wooden ring. wtf i thought. i like knowing there is a paper element in there now. i will have to do this again as there was still murk in the lines when i refilled the system. next time i use a gallon of the cheep stuff, prestone. i topped with syn power. |
