New Injectors

Are the Bosch rebuilt injectors for the Mercedes the same everywhere - i.e. rebuilt by Bosch and the only difference is the price or are there some places more reliable than others?
Also, I know on my F250 IDI they recommend going with new vs. rebuilt injectors - but then there isn't a huge difference in price...

no, apparently there are a lot of new injectors that are out there from Bosch that are of poop quality. Don't let go of your existing injectors. Do a search here on injectors. You'll likely be surprised.

I just replace the tips, its a no breiner and they were under $30.00 ea. You can have them tested but chances are they will be fine right outa the box. Make sure you keep things really clean when assembling tho.

Just make sure they don't say "India" on them!

stevo,
where do you get your tips from?
is the job to replace them pretty straight-forward?

I would think Phil here at Fastlane has them or Rusty. The injectors come apart in the middle. remove all the little parts in the lower portion, soak them in lacquer thinner to clean them then replace with the parts you will get with the tip. Do them one at a time (don't mix the parts from different injectors), assemble them bathed in clean diesel. The injectors can be tough to break apart so a good vice is handy. It really is an easy job.

All of the Bosch injectors (no such thing as "new" anymore) are rebuilt, new India nozzles and used bodies and parts.

Everyone I've seen in the last 4 months has India nozzles in them, so you might get lucky and get some that spray properly, but it's a crap-shoot.

BTW, if you ask Rusty or Fastlane for specifically "German" nozzles, they can't do that as they drop-ship from various warehouses. Also, the injector bodies will have "Germany" on them, but the nozzles (have to take apart to see) will be India.

My new ones were probably worse then my old ones. Don't waste your money if the car runs fine and doesn't smoke leave them.

If you insist on changing them have a good injector shop rebuild them. That way they can sort threw a dozen or so nozzels and maybe come up with a good set.
