water in my 74 240d!!

It doesn't rain much here, but this past weekend we had a doozy of a rainstorm. TO my horror, water was leaking in through the door on the front and rear passenger side on my 74 w115. Also water in my trunk! Luckily, the New Mexico weather doesnt promote rust, but I would like to get this fixed before it becomes serious. Can I replace the door and trunk seals? How difficult is that? Is there anything else I should look for? Thanks

The worst rain storm I ever saw was while driving along I10 in NM, it was raining so heavy I couldn't see the stripes on the road, even with the driver's door open to look down at the pavement (max speed 5 MPH!). I pulled off when I saw motel for a snooze, and the roof was leaking there and water dripping down into a bucket in the room!

There are two possibilities for water leaking into the trunk, the rear window seal is often the source, if the rubber isn't soft and pliable it shrinks at the corners and water slips around the glass and runs down into the trunk The other is the trunk seal and the channel that holds this seal may have a small hole in it, you won't find it until you remove the old rubber and prepare to glue it down.

I can sympathize with you. I have the exact same problem! I pull the mats and set them on the seats and have towels ready when it rains. And when I drive I run the heater full blast. Hopefully I will have time in the near future to replace the door seals.
