I was raised on Sonny Bryan's BBQ. Lovers Lane in Dallas Texas. Can anything beat that brisket?? Served out of a cowboy shack with sawdust on the cement floors, couple pieces of white bread, the real stuff!

Whoa! Flashback!

Lived in the area in 1975. Sonny's was the great place for BBQ. As I recall the only seating was the old “all-in-one” school desk/chairs. Open a little before lunch, closed when they ran out, which could be pretty quick on a busy day. Cold beer served in frosted goblets and you had better be ready to order when they looked at you or they would just go right on by to the next person standing around. I heard it’s been gone for many years now.

Also in the ‘hood was Herrera’s for Mexican and Dr. Balls for a little pool. Ah, to be young, single, and living in Dallas in the 70’s again. Mui Bueno, ya’ll!

I believe each of these cars are the final production year for that model.

Sonny Bryan's is still there, at least it was there in 2003, I stopped by and had a sandwich. The new owners kept it the same way Sonny made it, they still had a stack of wood (mesquite or oak?) outside for the fire. Yep, them school desks are still there, maybe the same initials scratched in them. The man said they had another location, in North Dallas I believe, or was it Deep Ellum? Man that beef is good!
