The SD got backed into by a truck last weekend.

Last Sunday while in a parking lot, my 300SD was backed into. It looks like the bumper of a truck hit the drivers rear quarter panel and really smashed in the taillight.

The insurance company gave me a quote of $600 to fix. I think it will be much more than that, but they gave me the go-ahead to take it to the best collision shop in the area.

This is the car I spent the last two months replacing the cylinder head. I just got it on the road two weeks ago.

But I'll get a chance to see what good paint will look like.

Very sad.

I hope Autometrics can fix it within budget.

They might be able to save the panal. But the crease on the bottom would be the most difficult to fix.

Are you getting the whole car painted while it is in the shop?

My poor SDL has gotten a few nice dents and the paint on my bumper is cracking because of people parking by feel. I have come to the conclusion you just cannot drive a nice car around other people, they will figure out a way to damage it.

I will get it painted this summer. No budget now.

Did you see OilSlick's Maaco paint job? It looks very nice. I heard it helps to pay them extra to have them apply a few more coats of clearcoat.

Well now you can get rid of those faded spots on the hood and roof. Always look on the bright side.
