Tranny niose?
Has anyone ever experienced a niose that sounds like your draging a tin can,
coming from around the center console? It is not a consent noise, it happens whether the car is hot or cold, running or standing still, lasts a few minutes then goes away. I can't see anything being dragged. I probley have to get the car on a lift and give it a visuale. '83 300D

Have you checked your shifter linkage bushings?
The rod that connects the arm on the shifter and the lever on the transmission should be seated in a plastic bushing at each end. If the bushings deteriorate, the rod will rattle around.
