Best Source for Seat Replacement

Hi All:

The seats in poor Frau Blücher are fast wearing out, especially the fronts. What's cool is these came out of an '81 or '82 W123 and they're black with good leather in the middle, but worn bolsters on the sides. They are the big thick models with the superior netting on the back and without that odd-looking molded/contoured back. I love these seats, save for the many rips in the leather. Does anyone know a source for either replacing these or repairing them? I used to have a number of online MB parts sources bookmarked, but I lost them. What is the best source for MB interior parts?

Any advice appreciated....

World upholstery at www.worlduph.com is one source.

Please let me know the prices cause seats here can run as low a $70 each at the yards, and I just saw a perfect blue MB tex set of fronts. I did see a front set of palamino w126 seats go for $385 plus $125 shipping on ebay. That when I decided to pull the very nice set for my SD. Super happy with them.

MB-Tex Blue seats

Just went to the local Pick-a-Part yesterday and bought two front tex seats in black, out of an '85 123--$14 each. The tex is in excellent condition, but I just need to scavenge the remaining good padding and lower seat springs for my blue leather '84 123.

For replacement upholstry you can use World Upholstry or GAHH.

Other seat parts such as springs and padding can be ordered from Fastlane.

When pulling seats from the yards, be aware that in certain years Mercedes used a padding that disintegrates into red dust. I'm certain of 1980 because my 240D has them. Maybe 81 and 82 as well. Just beat on the seat a few times. If red junk comes out the bottom, then the padding won't last long even if it appears to be perfect.

I purchased a seat bottom from GAHH and was very happy with the quality and the fast service.

I have had no experience with World, but I believe there are some posts lurking around here that are not too complementary about their service. I may also be wrong.

The seats in my '78 123 are considerably different than those in the '84. The '84-'85 seats appear to be constructed similarly to those in my 124, which use a yellowish green horsehair and foam padding, rather than the reddish dust.
