replace upper ball joints

After doing much front end work on My SE it drives so much better that I am doing my SD now, I changed lower ball joints on SE but not the upper as they were tight. Have to replace both upper and lower on the SD but Fast Lane and several other MB part suppliers only show lower joints? do I have to buy whole upper control arm that shows ball joint installed or can I buy just the joint seperatly I am going to start taking front end apart tomorrow and seeking info before Fast Lane opens Monday so will know what parts to remove..... Thanks.....

I think.

I think you can only get the entire upper control arm or the bushings on the inside where the arm attaches to the chassis. I looked around a bit when I did this on both my 123 and 126. The entire upper control arm looked like the only way to go.

Upper ball joints are apart of upper control arm atleast in 123 and 126. You have to replace the whole upper control arm. Its about 45 bucks each and its woth replacing it. Also dont forget to order the outer bushing for upper control arm as its advicable to replace these 2 bucks part as well. The inne bushings comes as a part of the upper control arm so dont buy them separate.

They are integral on the W116 also.
