What's the most you've gotten out of a set of front brake pads?

What's the most you've gotten out of a set of front brake pads on your W123? Just before I parked my 300D, I noticed that the brake wear sensor light was coming on when braking. I thought to myself that it couldn't be that pads were worn out so fast. I had only put about 17K miles on them. So I pulled the calipers off and found it out it was true. They were Texstars (SP?). I looked back on the previous service records from the first owner and they were getting about 20K to 25K on their pads. I'm used to getting around 60K out of a set of pads but that's on a different make of vehicle. I swapped the pads and rotors out of my 230CE to the 300D and got new pads for the 230 wth the 300D's relathed rotors. I also got a set of ATE pads to see if they'll make a difference. I imagine the pads will last longer on the 230 since it has less weight on the front axles so I won't have a true comparison.
Which pads are best?

I've got a little over 25,000 on my 300SDL. When they were checked, a few weeks ago, they had only worn about 50%.

Best Regards,
Jim

I once replaced my fronts with MB pads (came w/ car when i bought it) They couldn't have been on there for any longer than 5K, and the light came on, and I said there is no way they could be worn down. I drove for about a week, girl friend asked what was on my right front wheel/tire. Sure enough it was brake fluid, caliper hyper-extended. I was a little upset......I guess the moral is believe your dumby lights, it sure made a dumby out of me. Since then I got rebuilt cali's and pads from autozone. Hoping I don't need to touch for awhile.
