Broken wiper lever

Hey guys,
Last week my driver side wiper stopped working, just the driver side. The passenger side worked fine, albeit that is was crashing into the dead driver wiper. Last night I took a look and found that the wiper tie rod that connects the two wipers was broken. The wiper lever has a rod and I think a ball end that connect to the tie rod (the tie rod has a cap that looks like a ball end would fit into). It appears that the rod sheard right were it connects to the tie rod. What parts do I have to get? Does the tie rod and the driver and passanger wiper levers come as one unit? I could not rotate the tie rod to see if indeed there was a broken ball end in the cap. Is this how it is connected? I wish I had a picture to share but maybe you guys know what I am talking about.
Thanks.
rene

In the interest of a complete search function...

I think I found the answer to your question...the same thing happened to me last weekend.

I was told there is a retainer clip (don't know what it looks like) that holds the tie rod coming from the passenger side to the drivers side wiper assembly (underneath the plastic grill). What appears to be a ball joint is attached to the wiper assembly and the tie rod has a plastic cup the ball joint pops into. I think the clip that holds the ball into the cup wears out and the two seperate.

I tried Phil at Fastlane and he told me it was a dealer part only. I called the local dealer and they cost $1.33 each.

To get all the repair info in one place, there are four rivits that hold the plastic grill on. There is a square peg in the middle of the rivit that you push through with a small punch. Retrieve the rivits from inside the vent area, one will be in the drain assembly and may fall through to the ground.

Good luck!
