That's funny, my tailgate seems more likely to drop in cold weather!

Anyway, congrats on your purchase! Looks like you've found a nice clean wagon there. Don't get discouraged with your handful of problems, you'll knock them down. Mine started out the same way when I bought it last year, and I've slowly fixed just about everything. The only thing that still isn't working is the central door locking, and I can live with that.

P.S. -- The hatch struts are cleverly hidden up inside the roof. You gotta remove the trim panel around the rear speakers to get at them.

Still haven't checked the monovalve yet, probably do it when I change the water pump. I pulled the rear wiper stuff apart & found that the motor isn't connected to the wiper linkage for some reason! I can't find how to disconnect the wiper from the linkage yet. It was getting too dark. Hopefully it's just a matter of reconnecting it.
Any chance I might be able to find the tailgate struts cheaper than the $50 something on fastlane? Maybe one of the generic ones i've seen will work?

I love this wagon so far!

Doubtuful. The TD hatch struts are unique, as far as I know. You're only options are the junkyard or somebody parting our a wreck. I came across a perfect pair in a junkyard awhile back and now wish I had grabbed them.

OK, got the monovalve apart & it's definitely not good. The bigger black seal is broke, the flexing one & the screen there is all gummed up too. Definitely looks like I need a new one, will be ordering today. Any idea how I can make it flow all the time so I can have heat?
I found the tailgate struts at www.*************** for under $22 each!!

Thanks again for all the help so far!

Mike

Not sure what you mean, but I bet a new monovalve will make you happy. I just replaced mine and now I have all the heat I want, whenever I want it.

I think I figured it out, I took off the lower seal that opens & seals the coolant flow so that it is flowing all the time, that way I shoudl have heat all the time until I get the replacement, I can just turn the fan on & off when I need to.

Sure, I did the same thing.

Take the c-clip off the very bottom of the old valve and remove the rubber valve piece from the very end of the shaft.

Put the old shaft back in and you will have some heat. Not maximum heat, but adequate.

It's in pretty good shape, just has some rust on the passenger rear wheel well that I need to fix soon. The suspension seems great too.
Only other problems with it is there's no heat. I'm guessing it's the Monovalve. Need to check it out today or tomorrow. Also, the tailgate doesn't stay up. Are there supposed to be those shock thingies on it? There's nothing on there now that I can see. Would they be inside someplace? The front passenger & rear drivers windows don't work, hopefully it's just a loose wire or something. I read a post about a new antenna mast fixing an antenna that doesn't go up & down. The motor works, but the antenna doesn't move, so I think it's probably stripped. I didn't find that on Fastlane last night. Where would I find one?
Well, that's about all my questions for now till I really tear into it! Thanks! & It's GREAT to be driving another 123 Mercedes again!!!
Congrats on the wagon. Have you rechecked the mileage numbers you are getting. How many miles does the car have on it? As a benchmark for a future purchase can you give me an idea how much you paid?
