Accelerator Pedal Question?

On my 82 300TDT I have to push the accelerator pedal down about half way before it starts getting more "gas". I was looking at all the linkage on the engine & didn't notice any adjustment points. Is this normal or can I adjust it somehow? I'm used to my Euro 82 240D that is DIRT SIMPLE compared to this engine!

Thanks!

I am just guessing from memory... but at the top of the linkage on the firewall as it starts towards the engine.. do you have some rubber there ? Seems like some have found problems with that deteriorating... or check also for play starting at the back of the pedal.... Have you had someone stand looking at it while you pressed on the pedal ? Might be time to renew those ball joints... cumulative slack can make a lot of difference...

How long has this been happening?
If recently, it has been getting worse. You may need to ensure the boost enrichment from the back of the intake manifold to the overpressure switch is clear of debris. Sometimes this can be filled with gunk, especially if you still have an operating EGR. Or the Alda may be leaking.

If all of this is checked and seems to be operating fine, then you may need to check into an adjustment of the Alda. (1/2 turn may do wonders).

I just got the car the car last weekend, so I don't have any idea on the history. I'll check those things tomorrow though. Where is the ALDA? I've read a lot about it, but I can't find it in my Haynes.
What's the boost enrichment? Is that a hose or line? I'll try to find that too.

Thanks!

Boost enrichment is from a line, similar to vacuum line but a little larger, that runs from the back of the intake manifold to the overpressure sensor then another line runs to the alda on the injection pump. This line provides fuel "enrichment" when the turbo adds boost. There is a hollow bolt at each end that attaches the banjo bolt (12mm). Remove and ensure these and the attached lines are clean.

If you do a search for "boost enrichment", "alda", and "overpressure", you should be able to find photos for all of this. Also, I think there may be some info in the "sticky" area at the top of this forum. (Vacuum diagrams w123 and w126, turbo system, #15 points to the line mentioned)

OK, I checked the boost enrichment line & there was a little crap in there, but not bad. I noticed while checking all that that there is a vac line disconnected & open on that black box on top of the valve cover. It's the clear one in the tube with two in it, the other is black. I checked the vac diagram on the stickey & I think I found it. I'm guessing that this isn't helping things any! I'll put it back in the morning.
I found a bunch of ALDA info too, I'll see about uncovering it soon & adjusting it soon.

Thanks!
