Frankenstein '76 240D - to buy or not to buy
In addition to this, there is no A/C, and the transmission apparently whines at higher speeds. Everyone I know has told me this purchase would be a mistake. And no one bid on it on eBay, another bad sign. But there is something about this car that keeps drawing me back. Both the combination of 4-speed with a relatively low-mileage 300TD engine, and the look of the '76 W115. In any case, I'd definitely appreciate any insight and advice. Is this a good idea? What kind of problems should I anticipate with the year and condition?

Being from the great white north....I worry about rust that was repaired by someone who thinks slapping bondo on a hole is a cure for it.

This is not the first time that car has been on eBay, and I feel certain it's had a thread dedicated to it here before.

I've seen that car listed at least once before....yes you are correct about that....
The owner made a big deal of being a circus freak or something like that.
