My daughter's 89 Volvo wagon has great heated seats. I'm sure that if you went to a pick and pull you could find a set and make them fit in the MBZ.

If you can't get the two control boxes from the BMW you can install double pole/double throw swithes for each seat movement function. If you use Bosch relays for power to the seat motors and you may be able to tap into the light duty stock seat switches.

I used a set of black leather 8 way seats from a 1995 Buick Riveria. Found them on Ebay for $100 in perfect condition. I built my adaptor brackets from 24mm square tubing and attached the right belt hold down to the tunnel where the stock seat slide was.

Automatic seat heating control will probably give way to you installing a rheostat to keep you from branding yer arse.

IF the legal issue pops up, you cannot win. The questions go like this:
Are you a Certified Master? If so, you should know better than to circumvent the factory's safety restraints.
You aren't? Then did you do safety tests equal to the tests relied upon by the factory?

I've never needed the heating option on my seats and you never had it with your stock seats. I mean, how cold does it get up at your place?

We had about 3 weeks or so in January where it never reached freezing. But obviously, I can live without it, but it's about improving comfort. I drove Saab 99's for about 10 years before I got the MB. It's very nice in the winter and I still miss it.

The BMW seats I bought have all the adjustment controls on the seats and they work perfectly, including lumbar size and shape, backrest shape, and headrest. The seat heat operates too, but I don't have switches for that. What I really need is better info on what will work so I can expand available options.

I was just pulling your leg sir. I know how cold it gets up there in the winter.

I have come to two conclusive truths:
You people who live in the frozen North are much tougher than I.

And when the temperature drops into the low 50's I start humming calypso tunes and head for Maui.
