It turns heads. Not sure if it's a good or bad reason, but I like it regardless. I am now ALWAYS on the lookout for other Mercedes diesels. It's fun to compare.

Thanks for the advice, to the both of you.

I would use exhaust patching tape (the metal stuff) rather than try to braze/solder up the holes (assuming there is holes not joints to be repaired.

That stuff is tacky as hell but the aircraft stuff I had in a big roll seemed to hold onto dad's old truck where there was a rust hole in the roof :D

I would advise taking care of the ehaust system though as it isn't nessisarily something to balk on. Search around and you will find out many options (many of which are cheaper than stock)

Driverside airbag was optional beginning in 1984 on the following Mercedes models: 190E, 190D, 300SD, 380SE, & 500SEL. It was not available, even as an option on the 300D, 300CD, 300TD, nor the 380SL convertible. Same story for the 1985's. Standard on ALL beginning in 1986.

There are a few retrofit units that I have seen.
You can not compare a 300SD with a 500SEC or 500SEL... :o
Note:
I have seen a W110 190D with a three point seat belt and Chevy 350, doubt that Daimler would approve that one for sale. :(

No argument.

A 1985 300SD with Airbag would be rare.
I see odd things all the time, it is part of my job.
NOTE:
April 15/2005 I saw a 240D with ABS, Airbag and current production navigation system, with a VEGGIE oil sticker in the window.

Current production = (recently like now? or when the car was produced?)

What would it be...a compass? hahaha
