The drivers seat has side bolsters and lumbar support. It has adjustable height front and back. The seats were $20 each from a U-pull-it 2 miles up the road. They came from a '83 BMW 533i, which has a flat floor and rails 18" apart, 1" narrower than the W123. The seats actually cost me nothing, as I found a spare tire inflator at the same time (for free), and sold it on eBay, covering my cost and more.
For the front mounting, I cut some 1/4" steel bar stock 1-1/2" wide and 3" long and fastened it to the front mounting points with the factory hardware. The rear mounting needed some height, so I cut the boxes off the W123 passenger seat rail, and attached a similar piece of bar stock to the tops. They bolt down using factory hardware as well. Then I just plopped the seats down, drilled holes, and bolted each corner down with grade 8 hardware, same as the factory hardware. Technically, the seatbelts are not part of the W123 restraint system, as the buckle mounts to a sliding piece separately fastened. And now they are, as the BMW belts attach to the seat frame on both sides. If I were to be completely anal about it, I'd have to completely replace the factory seat mountings, as they were not designed to support the seat and the belt. But that's life, so if you want to give me grief about it, I will give you smart-a$$ remarks back. Last I checked, this was still the US of A.
