well, i broke down and done it

bought an 83 300D today....its been sitting at a small car lot thats on my delivery route for a couple of months now...ive been driving by it almost every day thinking,"thats a nice looking 300D, someone's gonna scoop it up in the next couple of days." well, they havent...so i took it upon myself to buy it after driving it twice....the engine is pretty much unmolested...even the cap for the ALDA is still on it...has new vac lines, a/c works great...even the sunroof functions flawlessly....it drives out very nice, transmission shifts smoothly, and once the turbo kicks in it starts to really scoot along....i can have this thing schooling my SD in no time with a couple of adjustments....im really excited about this little car, even though i need another sedan like a hole in the head....i figure ill at least drive it for a few months and do a little tweaking here and there and then maybe sell it....i dont know though, this one might fall into the "not for sale, ever" category like my 300SD

" someone's gonna scoop it up "

Because we are all bunched up here together it seems like there are a lot of us... but really... not many people want to start with an OLD car which has a reputation for costing a lot in parts and labor to keep up...

Which of course is why we are often able to get terrific bargains on great cars fairly often...

A W123 300D and W126 300SD, the best combination of MB's you could have in your driveway. Congrats!

ill try to get some pics up in the next few days...ive been being run pretty ragged here lately, with work and helping my sister get her salon going...when i get a little time, ill get it all washed and detailed and then put up some pics

and yeah, its nice to know i now own two of the best cars MB ever built...im not going all accessory crazy with this one though, like i did my SD...this one will keep a stock appearance with the exception of tinted windows and a cd player which it has already....but i have a few aces up my sleeve for the engine and drivetrain

Congratulations on the purchase. Remember you can adjust the ALDA using shims from underneath if you want to keep the cap intact.

Absolutely! Jack the price of diesel a bit and watch their prices drop even more!

I love it!
