Leaking transmission

After installing my new B2 piston on my 83' 300D, whenever i put the car in a forward gear transmission fluid pours of of the rear of the transmission..it isnt the pump behind the B2 or the rear seal..I'm stumped...going to take the car to a dealer so I can use the lift and put in another transmission..I'd like to use the one I have though
What else could it possibly be? It seems to be coming out of the top of the transmission..car is on level ground (on jack stands) and it is not overfilled with ATF..

My dad's tranny on the 83 was leaking horribly recently, it went from bone dry to literally drooling out of the back area of the tranny, so we took it to a local guy down the street, he claimed it was the pan/pan gasket. So we let him do the fluid/filter/pan gasket change, and now it no longer leaks even a drop. So he was right.

Yeah - this is coming out of the top of the transmission and you can actually hear it pumping it out...squirts like crazy...
it pours down the passanger side of the transmission in the rear..I'm clueless..I think im going to pull it and put another one in.

Wouldn't there have to be a hole in it or something for it to leak/squirt like that?? Seems real odd....whats on top of the tranny that could even leak like that?

What did you do while installing the B2 piston? It didn't leak there before the B2, but now leaks after the B2.
I read in some posts that you should put a block of wood between the body and trans to improve clearance while installing the B2. If you did this, could it have damaged something on the top of the trans?
I have looked at the photos of my transmission and cannot see anything which could have been damaged.
Can you check and locate exactly where the ATF is coming from?
wipe it down and momentarily engage whatever gear causes the leak, then stop the engine and using your hand, locate the highest point where hrte ATF is located, wiping your hand each time. Then locate how far forward it is wet with ATF. Edit the photos to indicate location of the leak.

This will allow someone from this forum to guide you further with the diagnosis of your problem.

Would anyone care to identify the 3 pistons on the transmission, 2 on RHS, 1 on LHS? I have not needed to work on one yet, but would like to know where to look..

Tony from SWestOz. the B2B is the big one on the rt side rear. Don't know what surprises the other covers hold.
SYD Racing, there is a vent at the very top, towards the front of the transmission. I am thinking some of the particles from the break of your B2B have plugged one of the internal lines and now that pressure is blowing off throught the vent. That is thre risk with a B2B replacement. Can leave a lot of jewelry inside your transmission that will take the rest of it apart in time.
Maybe it is time to look at rebuilds.

Good idea....but it wasnt leaking before I put the B2 piston in...I took special care in keeping everything as clean as possible. It does make sense though!!!
going to attempt to drive it to the dealer tonight..only 8 miles away.

Perhaps I installed the B2 piston wrong???
When the car is on jackstands and you put it in D, at idle it spews transmission fluid...however when you put it in D and apply throttle and it shifts into the gear s (i had it doing 100 ) It doesnt leak at all!
What did I do wrong???
