A little duct tape and it will be fine.

Yup! This is/was Lilly's right axle. Narry an sound out of this one but the left started clicking with only a tiny split in the boot.

I swapped them both and the diffy (stuck in a 2:88 I had lying around) last Saturday.

could always wrap saran wrap around it and poke a hole in it with a grease gun...friend of mine did that with his 83' 240D and limped it home driving 500 miles.....then he kept driving it for another 1000 before it started clicking again..

Hmmm, I have heard of panty hose as an emergency item, but never saran wrap.
One of those things to store in the back of your mind for roadside breakdowns.

Here is an alternative...

Pull that axle and weld that side solid. No need for a new axle and you still have 1wd!

WRap it with panyhose and then use that handle dip stuff to seal it up...
