New leak fix for rear puddles
pictures say it all.
The body clips go right through and do not drain into the main chassis drain. Water wells up in the channel of the trim that goes onto the shown clips - very dirty! |

Re: That hose is a drain for the cowl area.

Diagnosis: It seems that the blower motor fuse was blown. I took the blower out and water was IN the blower housing. The blower would not turn at all so it is toast. Noticed water had pooled in the passenger side cowl vent and overflowed into the interior ducting due to a blocked drain into the engine compartment. The kicker is that the drain tube appeared frayed and deformed so that it closed up like a valve. Squeezing the tube allowed the water to run out. Maybe the turbo heat caused it to deform? Solution: Work on the tube to keep it open and install replacement blower motor and fuse from junkyard. When I took off the cowl cover, one of the little black plastic plugs for the retaining clips went down the chute. Where it ended up I don't know. Maybe three will hold it. Thanks PeachParts and posters for all the help. I'll be ordering some parts. Codifex 1981 240D ChinaBlue (found an engine - hope it's good) 1983 300DTurbo w/sunroof |
