While the transmission is out....
What things go bad in the transmission on these cars? I've got my old one out, B2 piston area of the case was cracked, leaking like crazy..I'll be putting my new B2 piston assembly into the other transmission we are putting into the car. It has around 100K on it, so I was wondering what I could replace while the transmission was out..I'm thinking about doing the front seal but if there is anything else that could possibly be worn then I would like to replace that stuff as well.
Pretty easy to drop it on these cars! 40 minutes from start to finish! Book time says 7.5 hours..we will see how easy it is to put back in  |
MB has a redesigned spring kit for the K1 accumulator. Go to the dealer and order a K1 spring kit. I just bought 2 spring kits from the dealer. I just gave them the part number: 126 270 44 77. They were $10.50 each. Have not installed them yet...
Go here for installation details. www.mbz.org Click on Articles, then Transmission, then K1. There is also a section on the B2 R&R. |
On the engine
The rear main seal. I thought of that cause my wifes just started leaking.

yes, the front seal, it's easy.

Is the 617 Diesel known for having leaky rear main??

Even after putting synthetic in a car that has probably ran on non-synth for quite some time... How did the case around the B2 Area crack? |
