Fishy story on this wrecked 300D

Seller claims it was "hit in my parking lot". That BMW must have one hell of a rear bumper, and backed into the Benz at 30 MPH, which somehow tweaked the rear taillight and quarter panel quite a bit.

$800 is wishful thinking for that one but,

it might be nothing but a broken upper control arm or snapped upper ball joint and beat a up fender and door.

BTW-I missed the newsletter. When did a 617.952 become a 'hard to find' engine?

Whaddya wanna bet that 'leather' is really MBTex?

He says the Beemer was damaged when he backed into his Mercedes?
I wonder if he dwinks a bit?

I took a closer look, and it looks like the floor section behind the front tire is crumpled. The base of the A-pillars is probably bent in as well. Neither are easily repaired, and those are substantial structural sections of the car...

R.I.P. for this one.

Funny thing, the listing says OK to transmit to outer space, I guess that's where this clown came from.

If the drivetrain's still in good shape, $800 is a good price for a donor/part vehicle.

Thumbs down

Wow, What a shame, he must be sick. This car is DOA

Unless someone is brave it'd be a great parts car.

FWIW, my lastest parts car cost $150 and the two before that were $400/ea.

Those are some good deals. I paid $400 for just an engine, less turbo. I paid $600 ($300 each) for both my Benzs, one rusty and barely running, the other engineless.

Agreed, considering two of them have running engines and functional drivetrains! Thanks to the generosity of Leathermang (donating the storage facility), and the userous charges at local boneyards I lean toward buying parts cars rather than going to the PnP and taking it on the nose.

"I also have 1990 bmw 750 il leather loaded clean v12. I am selling it for 4000.00,200k miles Black on Black a sweet deal also. It has trunk damage from backing into my Mercedes. The Lady who hit me had no insurance job or money, I ended up with her Bmw in lue of payment."

...quite a car to be rolling around in with no job no insurance and no money

Hmmmm, I have seen this add on Craig list for months.....never saw the rear of the BMW, but now that I do the damage is completely inconsistent with the damage to the Mercedes. 1st, to push in the front door pillar and firewall AND wheel like that on the Mercedes would cause severe damage to the offending vehicle. 2nd, the right rear of the VERY weak BMW bumpers and easy-to-crush crash zone would look much different, I know I had two 750 IL's and backed one into a low pole at 5mph and it required $1500 in repair and that for a light quarter panel pull and paint, plus a used bumper & taillight. This BMW looks like it backed into or was rear eneded by something taller, possibly it backed into a dumpster and the protruding "pickup arms" gouged & crushed the right end of the quarter panel. I just don't see what protrusions from the Mercedes would or could have "torn" the metal like that.
Like others have said, he just bought two wrecks and created an interesting story.
