617 with no Primeing pump?
HI
got my 617 out of it's donor ex home and NO Priming pump ? IS that normal? ( I would not think so -but heck I dont know didley) and are they all the same ( Priming pump ) I have a new one on my 220d will it interchange? ( I know they are cheap - well relitivaly I changed the subframes today - not much brain work but it reminded me how old I am. dooing this stuff on the ground is not as much fun as it once was. Tomorrow I am changing core supports ( the donor has an oil coller and the original 220D well - it doesent. Thanks Chuck PS I will have some pics soon of the mods that the donor car has (69 220D that allowed the 617 to be in there in the first place- like a big cut out in the subframe ) and the air/water intercooler ( I have no idea why they went to the trouble -since an air to air would be more usefull) and the bell crank they built to change up down on the throttle to circular for the 617. |

Got any pics of that injection pump? I have some theories, but I'd like to see some pics, or at least a serial number for the pump.

Hmmm
If the lift pump is blanked off, they may have been feeding the injection pump with an electric fuel pump.

No priming pump. Does it have a lift pump, or is the pump location blanked off?
If your lift pump from the 220D will fit, go for it and install the updated priming pump while you are at it. |

Well, my theory's out the window..no idea why there's no primer. The fuel pump on my 615 is physically different than those found on my 617 engines, but they may still mount and function the same. 615 primer pumps are harder to remove, so I'd go with the updated version of the primer if you opt to swap pumps.
