He clearly knows little about WVO. The last place anyone in their right mind would get oil from is McD.

whatever...I have seen it done more than once..
Most of my friends get their WVO from $$ restaurants because they tend to have nicer oil that isn't quite so dirty, but the advertisement is simply proving a point, and I do suggest for the reader to "learn of the experience of others" from greasecar.com, so I am trying to educate the audience. I also know of a fellow here in town who relies on a hotwing stand for his WVO... |

No offense intended:
I did not know that the person posting this ad was also the same one hawking the car; we have a classified section for that. My point is that fast food oil is simply not useable. It seems a little misleading to point at McDs as a source of oil; when in fact they have strict rules against giving it away, and their oil is garbage to begin with. This opinion is coming from a shadetree mechanic forum members and fellow WVOers point of view; not from a commercial one.

Oh good. Congratulations! I didn't know that engine was that good. I just did some research and saw the specifications. It is amazing to see that MB got diesel engines that powerful and efficient without the Common-Rail Direct Injection System. Don't get me wrong, I love the CDIs which are even much more powerful and efficient, however the complex injection mechanism and high pressure fuel pumps (with pressures exceeding 26,000psi) make me sort of scared. These diesels engines today are far more complex than today's gasoline engines. Who would have predicted that 20 years ago?!?

Oelmotor 606 mit Abgasauflader
I have owned one ('99er Turbo E300) now for a month, and paid a fortune to have it all brought back up to snuff after its previous owner negelected it, sort of. The engine makes a wonderful sound which reminds me of my old 1964 Jag 3.8S and it accelerates as well or better than my '99 230 SLK. It also does not seem to use fuel, (about 30 mpg going around 80-85 mph over a distance of 190 or so miles....) really. It is not as remarkable as a CDI (I have driven these in Germany...) but it is a fast, comfortable car. It has too much cheapo plastic, of course, and the bloody dash board has cracked. I miss the smoke and noise of the 240D. The catalytic converter on the 99er has no poetry to it, really; but now the California Clean air board will not send me hate mail all the time, which was the case with the 1979 car. I guess in the back of my mind, I await the springs to fall off, and soon I shall have the Gluehkerzen replaced, but the man who will do it (who has much experience...) claims that he has never broken one off in the head. If that happens, I shall report it here and likely sell the thing off.
