Original spring and shim specs?
1981 300SD Getting ready to order some spring shims, and-or take my car to the spring shop to level it out (raise the rear, lower the front). Does anyone know what the original specs are for the springs and shims? I'm tired of riding a wheelie everywhere I go!

From what I've found on 123's I havent seen a common setting for the shims, Some have 1's, 3, 4's etc as far as i know Theyve never been changed. I know my rear springs are worn out, If I didnt want to to go nose high everytime from a stop, I'd replace them. I have #1 shims in the front now, one link removed and all new front suspension bushings. Still cheaper for me than buying new springs. The car still aligns in spec on the machine.

An option would be to install airbags inside the coil springs so that the ride could be adjusted. Air tends to give a nice ride. I had some on my truck and was favorably impressed. I have seen the airbags for sale pretty cheap. I think the ad was in a magazine for low-riders and other street toys.
