Broken accelerator cable.. need some help.

Recently, the accelerator cable or whatever controls the modulation of my throttle does not work. The engine still revs freely under the hood, but depressing the pedal does nothing. The small s shaped metal pipe covered in blach that is attached to my pedal is still attached fine, but it will not rev the engine. This is on a W115 Chassis 300D. Please help! Thanks,

-Kyle

I remember on an 80 240D there was a large piece of rubber in the linkage, on my friends car it was broken. we just drilled a hole and put a bolt through the two ends untill the new part came in and it could be replaced.

Move your linkages under the hood, look for anything broken.

Hmm

I I go down the the metal linkages that come out of the tranny, and I move them. the entire linkage move. Simply it seems the pedal does not work. Are the linkages for pedal operation buried in the firewall? Does anyone know the routing before I start fooling around in the snow?

my experience is only with 123's so bear with me...

on the earlier 123's when the linkage comes through the firewall it goes behind the engine, under the manifolds and finally up and over the valve cover to get to the injection pump.

When you press the pedal, check to make sure the bar along the firewall moves. There is a rubber bushing at the end which from memory, is easy to remove, its possible it came out.

Hmm

everything moves freeling from the inside of the engine compartment, but the pedal has absolutely no resistance on it whatsoever. I may have to replace this rubber bushing.
