converting filament type to pencil type glow plugs?

I just installed an 80 300d motor in my 81 300td. What is the best way to convert to pencil type glow plugs? Is there an adapter that can be used for the thread difference? Or how would I wire the filament type, using pencil type (81 300td) harness? thanks for any input.

If the TD used the pencil type and you are using the TD harness then you should just be able to put the pencil type in the 300d and wire like the TD.
You can also do a search on "fastglow kit".

dieselboy

There are not adapters available (12mm to 18+-mm?) that I was able to find. Just buy 5 pencil type GPs, disconnect the ground at # 1, throw away the resistor wires and hook them up using the old relay, glow them for only 6 or 10 seconds. Your "80" engine has loop style GPs?? You can also get a "kit" that includes a new relay.

Thanks for the reply, my 80 donor motor is loop style, but my 81 td is wired for pencil type. I put the donor 80 in the 81 td.
