'85 300d needs more power

i'd like to have the tires burn on comand in my new 85 300d. how do i go about doing this? and do they make a locker for the rear end? the life of my new ride is no issue. thanks.

Jimmy Joe 03-14-2005 07:45 PM

The only way those tires are going to burn on command is with gasoline and a match :D

d.delano 03-14-2005 07:54 PM

put a small block V8 in it and call it a day, you ain't gonna get no tire smoke from a 123 no other way(other than how Jimmy Joe described)

Use the forum's search feature or, take a pair of vice grips, pinch off the wastegate hose, disconnect the overboost protection and report back here with your results.

BTW, how old are you? 16?

refer to this for tire-burning...this is about the only way youll acheive it in one of these cars... http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/114386-insanely-modded-617-a.html

Then why did you buy a MB diesel?

Late model Corvette and Camero engine & transmissions are not hard to install but you still aren't going to burn your tires "on command".

I would suggest you use a modified big block to obtain the results you wish. If money is no object, use a 502 with an 871 huffer.

Of course there are always those diesel hot rodders in Northern Europe (Finland I believe) that have done incredible things with their MB diesels.

I want to be nice because this is "paduka's" first post...but the above partial quote would seem to imply that this person has a hatred of fine German engineering ! I will say no more, because it probably wouldn't be nice !

Jimmy Joe 03-14-2005 08:28 PM

Sure hope I never end up with one of his cars....

Since you seem to have no regard for this car, I would
gladly take it off your hands and give it the proper care
it deserves.

This will leave you free to purchase a new Dodge Viper.
Voila- instant tire burner.
And you can beat the crap out of that, without fear of
breaking the car.

Louis.

I'm just curious if you could get the tires squealing a bit with a 300D Turbo and a manual trans.

Johnhef 03-14-2005 09:05 PM

I did it on accident with a manual 240D on an uphill ramp ;)

i just happened to be at the local dc dealer today and after walking past the 230 kompressor, 1998, 28g's, and the fastback and convert 230 er, uh, crossfires 41 g's, i was stunned when walking in the door and layed my eyes on a new viper, black on black, top up convert, sold tag on the mirror, 84 big ones. it weas gorgeous. the black was shiney and hid all the curves from a head on look. peered underneath at the trayed bottom open only at the rear diff, rear lower disperser(forget what its called) looked awesome and thru the holes you could see rear end parts.

now if only the r/t came in a convertable i might sell the house. well maybe not. after this last problem with the van the wife said....."no more chryslers, okay?" the ignition locked up solid friday nite after i parked it. of course i had the rear windows open and there was a furious 2' snowfall that night. towing and cylinder work put a 1 week hole in the paycheck account.

Hey now thats not nice, what do you have against us youngins? ;)

I think the 300D isn't the right car for you, look for an automatic 240D. Now theres some real power! :P

paduka 03-14-2005 09:24 PM

Many thanks to all who took the time.

jimmyjoe; funny.

rleo; 22.

8sdrtysthBenz; Thank you I will be sure to look into it!

brad123d; I don't hate any thing to come out of germany that i know of. the only reason for the posting was to have some fun with this car after its use as my daily driver is over. Also in the hands of it former owner it would have returned to the earth beforwe its time.

Tirebiter; Thank you i will investigate them!

I am sorry for the disrespect of the love for the cars you all seem to have.
I had just heard of propane being the nos of diesel and a simple addition such as that would create insant fun.

If you know anyone in Finland, you might be able to have them send over one of those Turbo Supercharged OM617's, which seems to be a popular mod done to W123's there. I believe those are good for 300+ horsepower...
