Want to rebuild rear suspension-Recomendations?

I am just going to bite the bullet and replace all the rubber on my 1982 300sd rear end and other possible offending parts. Help me here - you guys are more expert than I am.

I have an indy that will do this for me when I get all my parts.

I already have new shocks, springs, pads for springs. I assume I need the sub-frame bushing kit and differential mount, but what else??

I just want to do it all so its done and right. I figure with 257,000 miles it is time. I am going to keep this car, so I want it right. Thanks.

How about...

torsion arm bushings and links. All too cheap to overlook.

If you are pulling the rear suspension apart anyway and you plan on keeping the car, isn't this an opportune time to consider new CV boots?

Isn't it interesting the way repair jobs seem to snowball?

(I also value getting real MBZ part #s...)

Don't you have a Mercedes Bible?

I'm sorry I mean manual. Before I start a job I always consult the good book to see what's involved. It hasn't lead me astray yet....otherwise your left depending on the wisdom of men...

Got the parts today

Well,

I got my parts today. Bought a new set of BOGE 46-016-4 rear shocks. My parts man who is the most knowledgeable and honest I know used to be the service magager at the dealer. He said before Mercedes went to putting the parts in the blue and white boxes with the star and charging more, they used to get the shocks in the dealership from Mercedes and they were the BOGE. They were significantly less money than Bilsteins. Bilsteins were $98 piece. These Boge were only $65. per shock for a total of $131 for the pair. Lawson's Quality Import Parts in Raleigh, NC is the greatest. They carry Lubro Molly in the store and stock lots of stuff!

Picked up the differential mount and the subframe bushings too. A lot of dealerships will give you a 15% discount on parts if you tell them you are part of the car club even if you are not - they never check, but just discount the parts. It makes a big difference.

Hey,
I'd be interested to know how the subframe bushing replacement goes.
