another turbo vs. non-turbo question
I posted the other day an was advised not to try putting a turbo diesel setup (which I already own) on a same year non-turbo car. Here's situation...
I own a 79 300sd which has a blown motor. My first plan was to buy an engine (complete, running) from a friend and put it in. Now I've run into a 79 300td in good shape that I'm considering buying instead of doing all the engine transplant work (I kinda like the wagon feature too). In going with plan a I would have a load of spare engine parts making keeping the car going a good amount cheaper in the event of parts going bad. Now I'm not sure if the turbo engine parts (injection pump, injectors, etc., that I already own) will even work on the non turbo engine. I'm at a crossroads and am not sure which way I should go.

You won't go wrong either way. Give the wagon a good run to make sure you can live without the turbo.
How about put the SD back on the road for now and wait for an 81-up TDt? Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

nothing wrong with the non turbo wagon- I have one and love it. many of the parts from the sd will fit, many will not. I'd buy the TD and use the sd for parts when you can.
