thats not rust, thats the designed in weight saving process. Without even looking at it, my 240 will automatically shed unnecessary bits to get down to race weight.
If I park it in a field, mercedes brilliantly ensured that the weight saving process would be accelerated and eventually develop speed holes for maximum air flow.

Depends, if they are all maintained and driven regularly....no problem,....if they are all piled up in a field, rotting on flats....home to many rodent generations....not so good.....and then when someone wants to buy one to save, your price is six figures....its sad but I have seen it more then once...

In my experience, MB vans seem to rust at a higher rate than the sedans. Here in Colorado where virtually no cars rust out, I've seen relatively new Sprinter vans with a fair amount of rust. Doesn't seem that hard to galvanize steel.

The modern way of thinking seems to be that you buy a van from new and throw it away after 5 years of use. Manufacturers just don't put in the extra effort to stop corrosion anymore for light commercial vehicles.
