1963 319d

I just purchased a real nice 63 319D and was wondering if anyone new where i could get manuals or tech info printed in english for this model. Sweet ride by the way, she is pure mercedes thru and thru. Drove it 300 miles home from the shipping terminal with zero problems and got 21 mpg. it only has 77,000 miles on it, never been outside with zero rust! the germans are going to be pissed when they find out i got. Any other info or comments on this model will be welcomed.

Brent

Outfit in Rhode Island used to reprint all the van manuals in English. Not cheap. It's where I got the manuals for my 307d/409d. Maybe I can find their name.
300 miles. Did that take you like 3 or 4 days?

Here's the manual outfit. Not cheap. Mine was $178 quite a few years ago.

I remember I could have bought a dozen of those in different forms, pick up, double cab, bus, van , postal van, library bus, fire truck on and on and on.

I had the luck of having money at the right time, but that was 20+ years or so ago.
The last one I bought in Germany running and driving 35 miles per gallon diesel, must have been about 1990.
They have gradually been parted out for the surviving vehicles and therefore out of millions built few survive.
Why ?, because Mercedes decided to do away with all/most spare parts for these in around 1985 to make room for the new E-line.
The other day a guy from the classic center was asking me to consider selling one of mine to them to restore. How ironic, no ??
Just about then you know these are rare.

I get people stopping regularly in front of my house asking: what's that Bus that looks like a VW 23 window bus ?
And is it for sale ?
Sure I say, but unless you knew what it was in the first place, you wouldn't be happy with my answer......

I saw the thread was from 2005, with three posts I doubt that this guy ever did anything with it. If he was Back East it's toast by now, like most of them.
THEY D I D RUST badly !

If you ever find one, feel free to send me a message and we'll talk parts and literature....
I am guessing this is where this last guy got stuck.....

^^^^^ hmmmm are we a Mercedes van hoarder?

I thought these were cool and wanted one....after reading how slow they are and the top speed. The cool factor faded..... I have also noticed that because of the out of the world prices vw buses are bring people are turning to other euro made buses...

Probably not a popular thing to say here but I haven't found a Mercedes that doesn't
