Is This for the ACC Thermostat?

I pulled out the glove box & the thermostat to see if I could figure out why my heat cycles are too long, it's really hot for a while then blows pretty cold for a while. I would have thought it would cycle much faster so there wasn't much of an extreme either way. I was thinking the thermostat was dirty or something, but I found this part laying in there. Looks like the hose had been cut. It also looks like the thermosatat column thingie fits inside & a fan blows cabin air over the thermostat. Am I right? Do I need to fix it?

Look up and in "search" and your woes are over.

The hose that used to be there can be replaced with some pipe insulation foam hose and your cycling will be much more precise.

don't forget the monovalve

you may also want to check the condition of the ACC monovalve diaphragm. My 83 300D cycled like that and it was mainly due to the monovalve. that being said... the cabin temperature sensor tube was disintegrated too but the main reason was the monovalve.

Yep, the monovalve was shot too. I replaced that a couple of weeks ago & it was actually working after that! Other than the cycling problem. Thanks though!

I replaced that stupid foam hose in my SL with a piece of unused heater hose (3/4" inch I think) and it works great and will never disintegrate like the OEM part did!
