seat + pool noodles = bloody hands
I could have been in a knife fight and come out with less blood loss!
Since it was a rainy yucky day, I decided to take a couple different seat parts, cram them with pool noodles, and make me a complete seat with a little less sag. My wagon has navy blue interior and I have been cruising around with a black seat since the 2nd week of ownership. (I use the term 'cruising around' loosely). I purchased a wagon interior from good ole leathermang last summer, and I originally thought only the back seats (60/40) were any good. Well, the passenger seat back was OK, and with a whole lot of rust removal and padding maybe I could make something out of the driver seat bottom. (threw seat back away this past summer, and the seat bottom had become hidden under other stuff ) Well, a couple of observations. That freakin seat frame is sharp! Everywhere. And when you are cramming pool noodles, and pulling them back out, and cramming them somewhere else, you get rather sliced! The seat currently feels OK just sitting in it on milk crates, but we'll see when I install it in the wagon. I think I'm gonna get a couple more noodles and put some more in the seat bottom, and some maybe in the seat back. All the hardware changing is the hardest part, as different years have different seatbelt hardware. I'm also having to cut a hole for the armrest, but the mounting holes are on both sides of the seats. I'll add to this thread when I install seat in car and give it the fanny test. **edit** Can you believe that in the 3rd picture, to the left under all the crappage is a beautiful '67 Camaro that I haven't hardly touched since I got this wagon. What on earth is wrong with me

" MB stigmata "
Is only placed on individuals who turn their engines backwards... Your life will not be easy until you have retimed it. Do not go under your house... those skunks WILL spray you with your timing as off as it is now.... |

Well the consolation is that if the "fanny test" gets a high score, you will forget all about your battle scars.

Ouch!
Jimmy,
Glad to see you got the noodle thing going, sorry about the hands. I think I did warn you to "wear gloves". You don't need to ask me how I know that. I got both thumbs right at the tips! Hope the seats work well, Clay

Wasn't worth it. Thanks again for your pictures the other day. And, by the way Gregory, the skunks haven't bombed the house in almost 2 weeks!

Did the seat-back
Well, I crammed the seatback with noodles this afternoon. I opted for the obviously much faster green noodles for the back. Didn't have near as many blood-letting experiences.
This seat was such mush that I may have crammed way too many noodles into it, but only seat-time will tell. You have to try to cram the noodles in such a way as they don't bulge out the sides or ends. If you've done it you know of what I speak. I'll repost back when I reinstall the seat and try it out. It rained all weekend and is quite the quagmire around the wagon now. Please look at the last picture, as I have stumbled upon a part need. Since I used the seatback from a passenger side seat, the recline adjustment knob is on a different side, under the armrest. No big deal, except on the door side the seat trim piece around the knob area has a hole in it, and is rather unsightly. I actually need one the the left side of seat without hole, and one the the right side of the seat with hole. Navy blue if anyone has a spare. Mint shape is not required as my wagon isn't exactly mint material. We'll see how the pool noodles-thing goes, and again thanks to those who suggested this fix and also provided pics.

Jimmy, looks like a good job your doing. Are you sure you didn't get into a CAT fight this weekend? Man my daughter's cat loves to play and sometimes my hand come out looking like that. Once when I was 21 I was working on my '81 F150 Ford and I was working on the seat and I reached over the back of the seat and began to pull up on it for some reason and the result was a huge cut across all four fingers which felt like a razor cut...man that hurt like H-ll.

Thats a rare sight.....a garage with actual space to work....and even more impressive is there actually appears to be space for a car.

In recent weeks police departments accorss the nation have a observed an increase in breaking and entering of YMCA's and other establishment with swimming pools.....Vast quantities of pool noodles appear to be vanishing as a result....I cna see it now....going for a swim, doing some laps with some noodle... sneaking into the locker room and beyond with a few noodles tucked into my trunks...I suppose it beats trying to shave horses.....
