Vacuum Line Question? & Interesting Find!
Well, I finally got some more of my heating problems fixed! The line going to the valve for the drivers side floor heater was disconnected. The blower had been making a vibrating noise since I got it so I finally pulled the blower & guess what I found in it??!! A dead mouse!!! It had partially spewed out between the fan blades too! Gross & hilarious at the same time!
OK, back to my main question, there's a black vac line coming out of the firewall in the drivers side footwell, it's with a couple brown ones & a yellow one or two. The black one isn't connected to anything. Anyone know where it's supposed to go? I couldn't find the other end anywhere. I plugged it for now so it isn't leaking. One other question while I'm at it. There's a big silver relay looking thing by the emergency break above the cover panel that has a big connector that pluggs into it that was disconnected also. The only thing I noticed it fixing was my drivers side dome light switch. The rear doors still don't light anything though. What else did it fix? Hopefully?? Any idea why the rear doors don't light a dome? Related? Thanks!

There is a small, usually black, hard plastic vacuum line which is used as a vent for the vacuum control (for trans)valve on top of the IP. If this is it, unplug it, it goes under the dash because supposedly it's cleaner under there. I've heard they have a little filter on them, but I've never seen it.

Thanks! I remember reading something about that now that you mention it. I'll unplug it right away.

There are two aluminum boxes with multiprong plugs under the steering column on the later 123s. The smaller one toward the left works the interior light and the buzzer (a buzzer is supposed to sound if you leave the lights on or keys in the ignition and open the drivers door with the ignition off). The larger box attached just above the brake pedal is the ECU for the cruise control.
