Throttle linkage free-play

All;

In monitoring movement of the throttle linkage on my Cali-spec 1985 300TD, I notice that there is some free play in the initial linkage bellcrank atop the rear of the valve cover. In other words, prior to the linkage to the IP moving, the bellcrank moves some before actuating the next control rod.

It would seem to me that by adjusting the length of the rods, I could eliminate some of this free play, and effectively bring more fuel to the motor throughout it's range.

This seems too simple, where is my thinking flawed at?

Thanks,
Dave

You need some for the emergency shut off to work correctly.....adn account for minor engine movement....have someone in the car floor the go pedal..with the engine off of course. of your ip is moving to the full load limit then don't worry about it.
