Warning: high wind advisory

note to self, don't leave the hood unlatched during hellacious extreme winds.... It blew open so fast that the full open latches didn't engage... Time to replace the hood, windshield, and fix the dented cowl....

I feel your pain...

Wow, who woulda thought?!
I went and got a trailer load of compost/mulch from the local compost facility, and parked the trailer and truck in the driveway. The wife parked behind, up towards the road, instead of safely in the garage as per normal. Well, I was on the riding mower mowing the small area next to the driveway, when it threw a rock right through the automatic sliding door window and shattered it.
It's always something, isn't it.......

That sucks. Damage like that for no reason.

We get sustained 70mph with 100mph gusts here in the foothills and just learn to keep all of the "hatches" battoned down at all times. No telling when we'll have bursts.

We find all manner of items in the ravine next to the house after wind storms. New people move in and don't think about bolting down their bar-b-ques, small children, Toyota's, etc. and we find 'em pilled up in the canyon next morning.

What really pissed me off is that the cowl got dented by the hood, the corner ears of the hood dug themselves into the cowl... The windshield had a crack from a stone chip, and I have a spare hood so that dosen't bother me as much as the cowl.
I had just charged the AC system and put NEW back-up light lenses on the car right before this happened.

We are at the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and can get freeky winds, hail, tornados, lightning and torrential rains... Last March Mercedes2000 came by the farm to pick-up some parts, a wild storm came at sundown, hurricane force winds rain, hail and the temp dropped about 20* in an hour: I lost a tree that day....

Too bad!

I have a parts car that looks exactly the same way except I did it to myself by driving around with the hood strapped in place with a bungee...sometimes I'm not too smart.

benzcrusher, if anybody feels your pain, i do....right now im rockin a black hood on a silver SD...i made my own wind though...about 30mph is enough to peel a hood back like a sardine can

also, i got a decent used hood( no dents or dings, but subpar paint) for $200 shipped out of TX...i dont really know what is a good price for a hood, but i never left my house once to look for one so $200 was well worth it to me...the name of the place is Houston European...the number is 800-567-7532....great guys to deal with
