Has anyone rebuilt a fuel pump?

Has anyone rebuilt the fuel pump on the side of the IP?

Mine is leaking. I don't want to spend $180 for a replacement.

Is the paper gasket leaking? What exactly is leaking?

The gasket may be leaking. I haven't pinpointed the source yet, but it's enough to leave a puddle over a few hours. The hand prime pump leaks also. In fact, the whole thing is oily.

Let me restate.

I am NOT going to buy a new one.

There is 3 nuts that hold it one to the side of the IP......and its a paper thin gasket....Make sure thats the problem....thats the only way it can leak oil I think....those last even longer than the IP's on the average.

If the gasket is intact...clean it up...and smear RTV or permatex on both sides real thin. THen check back with us...Bet that solves it.

Maybe I'll dig into that tonight. I don't see a gasket in any parts catalog.

I deoiled and reused mine....its as thin as newspaper.....adn should not be replaced with thicker material as doing so would reduce the stroke as it has an arm with a roller that rides a cam in the IP.....
