This guy's description of his 300sd is ridiculous. By comparison it makes the worst instruction manual from Asia read like Shakespeare. :D

Oh man...

You're right, his English still has it's training wheels on. Funny thing is, the car doesn't look bad in the photos. I'm on the west coast, so it's out of the question.

Rofl... 35 mpg too!
Yeah it looks decent in the pictures at least, i dont know why he seems to feel the need to talk BS.

pawoSD 04-08-2005 03:17 AM

Perhaps he is thinking 35km per gallon, because if the car gets 21-23mpg, then in km/per gallon itd be around 34-36.....:D You never know, he's probably just telling stories on purpose, but still :D

Snibble 04-08-2005 04:19 AM

Those pictures remind of those you see taken during the 1980's. It has that "blurry, retro" look. You can get a semi-decent digi cam for under $100... why can't he get one when he's investing $80 to post the car on ebay with crappy pictures?

vwbuge 04-08-2005 07:29 AM

Those are some pretty horrid pics! 35MPG is a bit high.

I wouldn't want to install the a/c compressor in the trunk - that would be to hard to run the belts back there :D

Brandon314159 04-08-2005 07:54 AM

The camera seems to lack the whole light level adjustment!...its probably an old webcam/cam setup. :D

I am still not too sure about that fuel mileage. I imagine you could increase the centane enough to get such numbers however I don't think most people buying the car care what sort of fuel mileage numbers it gets when being bottle fed...right?

Also, if he is going to combat someones questions about said things he should probably not referr to his diesel as having a throttle (since he is obviously Diesel Ron!) and it having a fuel rail. At 700RPM idle the engine should not shake PERIOD with this much bottle feeding and presumeably some "throttle adjustments".
Why did the transmission need adjusting...hmm?

And I know I am all for driving a car 2000 miles with a broken drivers window motor/regulator and a non-working AC....

I thought the same thing when I read the AD. That is too funny! :laugh4:

Yes, the guy uses poor word usage, and likely bad math too!

boneheaddoctor 04-08-2005 09:13 AM

I think that car could get 35 mpg...................

If you only drove it downhill all the time.

123c 04-08-2005 10:05 AM

The guy explains how he is getting 35mpg , he claims by running 35psi in the tires, he is able to do so...

BodhiBenz1987 04-08-2005 10:09 AM

Obviously, the guy's "redderic" needs a little tuning itself.

It's not a bad-looking car, although hard to tell in those photographs, which may or may not have been taken with a polaroiod camera purchased when the car was new ...

I will say that for $500, and right nextdoor in Jersey, it is a little tempting. Then again, I can hardly say I'd trust that guy to sell me that thing honestly, and I don't know enough about cars to have it not matter.

Bump up.

vwkess 04-11-2005 07:45 AM

I saw that the other day... pictures do look horrible. If it didn't have rust I'd be looking at it.
BTW, 35MPG is possible. I have an '81 SD, she will get 34MPG steady cruise on the highway. I haven't been able to get better than that, but I'm working on it ;) I usually drive a mix of some city/mostly highway, typically get 28-29MPG with that.
