BHD - I couldn't find specific numbers in print, but for what it's worth, with engine temp about 40 C, I get about 400 ohms through the sensor to ground (reading at the sensor tip with wire disconnected). Further, with key on and a battery voltage of 12.4, I read about 7 volts in the wire coming from the gauge.

Hope this helps,
Wes

Yes, that is correct. My mistake. However, since the other gauges work, the problem does not seem to be with the power to the cluster.

Just to make sure, I grounded my sending unit lead. The gauge went to the max indication, key on.

OK guys sucess............I think I had two problems.....and the fact I had things plugged and unplugged about 20 times ........because grounding at the sending unit didn't do anything before and is now...................

Secondly it appears the sending unit itself is also not good. I pulled the one off my parts car and it now ventures above 40 C.......something it hasn't in the time I owned it.

I am happy....now I can see how hot my motor runs.....

On a side note I get 9 psi boost max on this car.....tomorows project is to turn that up to about 13-14 psi.....IF I can get the wastgate actuator appart.

And then get a better IP timing job done on the W116.....and adjust that wastegate to the same WITHOUT an external controler it has now.

Assuming tomorrow is as nice as today was.

Thanks for the help guys....you saved me a lot of time.
