Silly question,
Is ist hard to change the thermostat on the 300D 2.5? You can not compare the 2.5 to other Mercedes. Everything that I have replaced on the 2.5 is ver backwards or difficult. I have done various repairs on the 3.0 liter 300D, but the 2.5 always seems to have something special about it.

The OM601/602/603 engine series are very simular in design & is a different breed from the OM615/616/617 engines. The W124 chassis CD has good info on this engine.

MB DOC,
Where on the CD can you find good information? It is not very user friendly in my opinion, to navigate the CD. I find the Cd to be a disappointment. I love my car and do a great deal of work on some other MBZ diesels, but I still find that the 2.5 is sort of quicky, if I may, when it comes to repairs.

No, its not hard to change the thermostat. Just look to the left of the water pump, you can see the hose leading you to it. Remove two bolts, and walla, the thermostat comes out. Its kind of a pain to remove and reinstall the lower bolt unless you have small hands. Anyway, its a 15 min job.

Johnson!!
You are great!!
There is actually another person that has a 300D 2.5 on this site. Do you have a copy of the factory CD manual? I do and I could loan you it if you want to see.

Hello CJ,

I just replied to the manifold question in the other post. No I do not have the CD manual for the car. How do you like it? Is it the MB one? Usually I just take apart the car and try to figure it out myself. But it never hurts to have more assistance and books.
