Valve Adjustment Cost

Howdy,

My car is already in the shop and I am considering having the valves adjusted while it is in there. I will eventually do this myself, but want to do some more routine stuff first. I have searched and searched the archives, couldn't find the answer to this question:

What is a reasonable amount to pay a mechanic for a valve job? What should I expect to be charged?

right, a lot of times a job is 1 hour even if it takes less, or so i generally hear. This job should take anyone who knows what they are doing no more than 1 hour.

My valve adjustment example done on 3/11/05 in Naples FL (used him for many years) check original timing chain (still 0 degrees).
1.5 hrs @ $69.00 per hr = $103.50
1 valve cover gasket = 10.00
Total $113.50

I found getting it done about every 24,000 mile works well for me and the mileage is still 27 mpg to 30 mpg mixed driving.
I do all small things like hot overnight draining oil changes every 3,000 miles with Mobil 1 5-40.

I would do this myself if I did not trust this guy to do a better job then I could.
