92 300D Electrical issue?

Driving along the ABS light came on. Got home turned-off car then tried to start again. With the key turned to where the glow plugs light came on, I noticed that no other warning indicator lights were on, except the ABS light. Tried to start car and battery was dead. Jump-started ok but the battery died again. Please help!!!

Jump it again and take it to get the complete charging system checked, both battery and alternator. It could be a bad battery, a bad regulator, a bad alternator, etc. The ABS is voltage-sensitive, so if the battery goes too low the system will no longer function, hence the warning light. Sounds like you were running on very low voltage.

Check it out, and get back with us.

Best Regards,
Jim

Cool

Ditto! Sounds like voltage regulator OR alternator failure.

Thank you!!!

I want to sincerely thank Jim H and M.B.Doc for your on-the-money troubleshooting. I replaced the alternator assembly and the problem went away. I look forward to join the Diesel discussion first chance I have. Thanks again!
