Help w/ 123 Front Rotor Replacement

I've searched 13 pages on the subject and wonder if there is a special trick to separating the hub from the rotor on the front of a 123?

I removed the five allen head screws and that didn't do it. Then I removed the inner bearing and it still won't come.

What is the circular deal that wraps around the outside of the inner bearing seal? Is that the clue?

Thanks

Don

Rotor must be rusted on. Use a little heat and a block of wood and hammer to separate them.

The rotor is likely just rusted to the hub. There is nothing holding it on besides the five bolts. Suggest lots of penetrating oil and a hammer.

Very likely rusted on, the ones on our 83 had to be slammed apart with a mallet

Yes only the allen bolts hold it together. It is a fairly tight fit so you must have some corrosion.

I took a proper sized oil filter socket (the ones that fit on a screw on filter, sold at autozone) an extention that fit the socket and hammered on that from the inside of the hub till it broke free. Easy as pie.

Almost threw mine away !!!!

Yeah i got the rotor and hub assy off and **** canned the whole thing. the next day i open the parts box and see just the rotor in there and think they just sent me the wrong part.

After closer inspection i noticed the 5 allen head bolts and the light started burning brighter. Then i raced to the street to pull the old units out of the trash can before the garbage guys got around the corner. Whew, just in time.

Its that ol read the instructions for the swing set thing, you guys know what i am talking about.
