transmission 240D to 300SD

Hello

I have a automatic transmission from a 1979 240D that I removed and somebody wants it but is unsure if it will fit his 1979 300SD. Does anybody know for sure if it is the correct transmission for his car or not.

Also he is interested in the fenders and the back seat.

I do not believe the fenders will work but I do not know about the seat.

Thank you
Ken

Not completely sure about this one, but I do know for sure that on later models the turbo and non turbo models trannies are different. Others will comfirm, but the answer is most likely that it will fit but will not hold up in the long run- I'd advise against it.

tranny swap

i think you will find that they are the same internally. some shift related devices on the side of the tranny are probably different. they can be interchanged.

i put an auto from a 240 into a 280e that i got really cheap with a bad tranny. it works fine except it thinks the redline of the 280 is about 4,000 rpm and so shifts then. it is a little odd but works acceptably for cheap wheels.
