240D Blower Help
I need some help on how to remove the rotary blower switch on my 1981 240D. Using the MB CD I see how to get the cover plate off the three switches in the center panel. But after getting that off the switch is behind some sort of mounting bracket the switch is behind and I am not sure where to go from there. Can I get to it if I remove the radio ? Hope I don't have to remove the center console.

I just did that job on a 83 240D. The replacement switch was about $65.00 but getting in there was a bugger. On mine someone had tried and broken that bracket so I wound up fabricating one with aluminum flat stock, pop rivits, and the plastic pieces. I couldn't figure out how one could get that switch out from behind there. sorry I couldn't be more help but maybe someone else knows the proper way. the new switch works nice and smooth but every time I touch it I remember the grief it gave me. I didnt remove the radio but the switch panel above. |
Look at job 83-536 at Skinnerbox. Item number 10
http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/Service/W123/Index/Groups/83ClimateControlSystem.htm The job shows removing the evaporator box. To do this you must remove the switches. It seems to show the 3 switches and they have C clips holding the switches on. Dave |
Hmm mine doesn't look like it has c clips, maybe I should just push on the switch and see if it moves. I didn't want to force it.
