Does anyone know how to open an Acrobat file?

Got a Mercedes Diesle repair manual on CD now I need to figure out how to open it. I put it in the CD player on the computer and the light blinks and it whizzes around but that's all. No box pops up on the computer or anything like that.

The seller says it needs an Acrobat reader to read it, I have Acrobat 5.0.

No further help from the seller, and the Acrobat site will tell you how to do all kinds of things I never heard of and will never want to do, but it doesn't tell you how to get the files off the disc. Neither does the help section on the Acrobat 5.0. Guess you are just sort of supposed to magically figure that out, then need lessons in how to move from page to page.

So if anyone can help it would be appreciated. The CD is the 86-91 Diesel Engine service manual sold on Ebay by just_play_ok.
